Getting Motivated to Exercise

Finding the motivation to exercise isn't always easy but these few tips will help you get moving.

  • Keep your gym bag stocked and ready to go. Make sure you have some snacks in it and your blood glucose monitor. Keep some gym clothes at work as well so that you're always prepared.
  • Create a workout playlist on your iPod® or MP3 player with songs that make you want to move.
  • Set some exercise goals you want to achieve. Set short-term goals and ones that you'd like to reach over the long term. Share them with your friends and family for added motivation.
  • Register for an event and start training for it. For example, register for a walk-a-thon, you can raise money for a cause you believe in and get a full day's worth of exercise.
  • Get enough sleep. If you're well rested, you'll have more energy to exercise!
  • Do different types of exercise. Change your routine every 4 to 6 weeks so that you're always progressing and not getting bored.
